Salisbury Healthcare History is a growing digital archive of Salisbury District Hospital’s historical collection. The Heritage Lottery Funded project has enabled us to properly catalogue and store our records and share a selection online. With items dating back to the building of Salisbury General Infirmary in 1766 and beyond, this online resource provides an exciting insight into Salisbury’s health care. 70 years of the NHS
To mark the 70th anniversary of the birth of the NHS we have selected an image from our archive for each of the past 70 years. Visit our NHS70 page to see some of the many changes to NHS healthcare here in Salisbury since 1948, including wards, royal visits, nursing and fundraising.
Join us on Monday July 2nd at The Old George Mall for a pop up history workshop – exploring hidden treasures from our archive. We are also gathering your memorable NHS moments from the last 70 years and your ideas on the future. Find us in the old BHS shop between 10am and 3pm all welcome.
Or if you’re at Salisbury Hospital on Thursday 5th July the pop up history workshop will be on Level 4 corridor for all patients, staff and visitors to join in between 11am and 3pm
